Clear Creek HikeSaturday June 19Rod A. would like to invite ANDES members to join a nude hike to the West Clear Creek Wilderness Area. Most fellows will probably prefer a day hike only, but I would advise driving up Friday and spending the night on the rim. It's a two hour drive from Phoenix. The trailhead to West Clear Creek is 6 3/4 miles north of AZ 260, at the end of Forest Trail 142E. West Clear Creek is located in a narrow, stone-walled canyon, 600 feet below the rim, but vehicles can be parked within a hundred feet of the trailhead. As the area is 6,500 feet above sea level, the canyon is in the midst of spring in mid-June, and we'll probably find Columbine and other wild flowers in full bloom.
